Emily Parchman - Dance

Emily Katherine Parchman has been dancing her whole life.  Her early years were in dance studios around Houston. Katie Miller discovered her at the age of 9 and brought her to the Plano Dance Theatre.  Under the guidance of PDT, Ms. Emily gained the technique and confidence to be accepted by and attend numerous dance intensives, including Joffrey Ballet, Ballet Chicago and Interlochen Arts.  Ms. Emily attended Allen High School, where she was a 4-year Tallenette dancer. She was one of the few 3- year elite squad members as Elite Captain, and First Lieutenant who choreographed award-winning solo pieces, all the while assisting as a staff member at Plano Dance Theatre. Post high school, Ms. Emily attended the University of Texas at Austin where she continued dancing and choreographing with the Roustabouts Dance Company while completing her degree in Philosophy. During her 3 years of university, Ms. Emily studied abroad in Durban, South Africa, sparking her interest in international dance and dance therapy. After attending UT, Ms. Emily served with the U. S. Peace Corps in Indonesia where she Emily taught dance to local students and studied local, cultural dances. Now that she is back in DFW, Ms. Emily spends her days as a behavioral therapist and was recently brought on to dance with Zach Law Ingram’s 6 O’Clock Dance Theatre- a local, non-profit dance company. She instructs classes and private lessons back home with the Plano Dance Theatre and is very excited to be back with her dance family and to be encouraging the next generation of PDT dancers.
